Senior Communications Specialist

Philip Dornyo

Philip is the Senior Communications Specialist for PCI Media at the USAID-funded West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change (WA BiCC) program. Philip leads the design, management, and implementation of behavior change communications and Strategic Program Communications in support of the goals and objectives of the WA BiCC program and its partners. Prior to joining PCI media, Philip was the Communications Specialist for the World Bank-funded Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR). He has been an account director for communication consultancy firms such as Newmark Group Limited, General Electric, Barclays Bank, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Philip was one of the two Ghanaian Media Strategists for the Africa Forum on Inclusive Economies conveyed by the Rockefeller Foundation in collaboration with the African Development Bank in Nairobi, Kenya. He was also a communications expert for the Kingdom of Netherlands’ sponsored Tax Revenue for Economic Enhancement (TREE) project, where he spearheaded a Behavior Change Communication campaign for tax mobilization in thirty-three district assemblies in Ghana. Philip holds a BA in English and a Master’s in Communication Studies from the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana, respectively

A fun fact about Philip is that he uses his pen name ‘Agbedefu’, a word in his native Ewe language which literally means “life is a struggle,” to occasionally write advocacy articles about social ills and publish them on Ghanaian online news portals and his social media pages!
